as those involved with the FVFD are STARS in our community.
This quilt is upcycled. All fabrics were purchased at thrift shops, and the quilt top is made of men’s shirts. Reuse, repurpose and upcycle!

Adapted from a pattern in Modern Landscape Quilts, I used ombré/shaded fabrics to give realistic variation in the features of mountains, fields and the river. This was a fun challenge, using all triangular pieces, and appropriate with our location on the Housatonic River.

This quilt was started by Kent Quilter and friend Doris Palmer (1933-2024), possibly in the 1980s or 1990s. She had made 63 house blocks and sewn 4 rows together. All of the fabrics to finish the quilt were in a shoe box. I made 17 more house blocks, sewed 4 more rows together, and quilted it.
